Condition:

The canvas is lined and the paint surface is relatively clean with a very slightly discoloured varnish. Some discoloured retouchings are visible scattered in the sky, notably to a horizontal repaired tear which starts along the middle of the right margin and extends for approx. 5 cm. This is confirmed under ultraviolet light, which emphasizes the scattered retouching in the sky, and further reveals fine lines just above the buildings in the distance lower right and to a more concentrated patch in the trees on the right approx. 3 x 3 cm. The varnish over the darker pigments of the main composition fluoresces unevenly making it more difficult to read intervention, however retouching is visible in the lower right and lower left corners. The painting appears to be in overall fairly good condition. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
